Chris and all of the guys at Bellingham Home Works were absolutely incredible. Chris guided my wife and I step-by-step as we brainstormed and discovered EXACTLY what we wanted the bathroom of our dreams to become. I can't say enough about the quality, responsiveness, thought and care Bellingham Home Works put into our bathroom remodel. Cannot recommend them highly enough!

We love our new shower!
Chris and his crew did an outstanding job from start to finish. The design phase was an iterative, cooperative process.
Chris listened to our original remodel plan and explained not only how that could be accomplished from a construction perspective but he also offered knowledgeable modifications that we hadn’t thought of.
Once the design was finalized, Chris gave us a detailed itemization of all the material that we were responsible for ordering and preferred vendors which made it super easy to order the materials we needed.
Demolition of our old shower went quickly and smoothly as did the construction of the new shower. Chris did a wonderful job at keeping in contact and scheduling the work even during the chaotic holiday season.
The end result was even better than we had imagined and we can’t recommend BellinghamHomeWorks enough. Our only complaint is that we're sure our water bill is going to go up since showering in this beautiful new space is such a joy!

Our clients, Jessica and Alex, wanted to not only update their bathroom, but also improve the layout to create new textures, with tile and wood while staying within their remodel budget. Before the remodel, their one bathroom home was completely rotted out from a poorly installed tile shower. Installing a new wall and sub floor need to be addressed. We re configured the space to allow for a modern insulated window, allowing in natural light and also venting out the steam from showers.
During demolition, the old steel tub was removed and a new vinyl slider frosted window was installed. The shower/tub was replaced with a new fiberglass shower and trimmed with locally sourced hemlock, sanded and poly coated to introduce a natural element next tot he manufactured fiberglass, and lend a cottage styled warmth to the small bathroom. With a updated vanity complimented with a brushed bronze spout faucet and new pebble mosaic tile backslash. Combining all these elements together added a contemporary beach house feeling to balance the old-school crafted woodwork with new fiberglass and chrome escutcheons. At completion, this bathroom not only looks great, but feels warmer, cleaner, with a contemporary spark of elegance.
We had a lot of fun working with and getting to know Jessica and Alex through some of the challenges of the project. I think the choices they made, along with the final decorative touches are perfect. Their bathroom now has an updated, modern feel, while still maintaining the integrity and charm of an older home.

I worked directly with David to translate his vision of function and design to mirror his outdoor lifestyle and his love for entertaining friends. We wanted to provide an extra-strong structure that could accommodate a dozen or so people on the upper deck, while providing some weather protection for the porch underneath, to make it more of a three-season outdoor living area. I designed it so that after the roof was built there would be some architectural appeal to the structure – more than just a functional roof but a roof that featured continuous a 25-foot long clear cedar beam running the full length of the roof and supported by four by fours and clear cedar gussets to add an interesting architectural line. The bigger challenge was to provide under-deck drainage, plus electrical
boxes to prepare for lighting for the covered porch. We also had to address the ugly fiberglass columns that no longer made sense next to the locally sourced Cedar, which is an ideal material in a maritime climate like the Southside. After demolishing the fiberglass columns, we ended up with a twisted, uneven 8 by 8 beam, which we were able to encapsulate with beautiful clear cedar and installed strong new posts. Additionally, we added an industrial design feature utilizing black hex nuts, bringing some visual strength to the soft texture of the cedar. (This design feature was the brainchild of David's mother!) Working with David was a pleasure; he appreciates art, appreciates high-quality carpentry and appreciates Northwest locally-sourced building materials. As we move into the future with the goal of having less of a carbon footprint (whether it's recycling wood or sourcing wood from just 20 or 30 miles away), it's a better model for keeping the planet green. As we move into fall, David can now sit under the deck on his covered porch, completely protected from the onslaught of the rainy season giving him another outdoor living space to utilize during the winter months while he has a wonderful view of Bellingham Bay.
